Only in Chile :skull::folded_hands:

Today, in Puerto Montt - El Tepual Int’l Airport (PMC/SCTE :chile:), a 29-year-old man failed to board his LATAM Airlines flight and abruptly entered the runway of the air terminal with the intention to prevent it from taking off.

The man was unable to board his flight to Concepción - Carriel Sul Int’l Airport (CCP/SCIE :chile:), and in order to reach his goal, he chose to violate the strict security measures of the airport and ran towards the runway where the plane was performing pre-takeoff maneuvers. Daringly, he stood in front of the airplane, which forced the airport authorities to take immediate action.

About a minute after he positioned himself in front of the plane, an airport employee approached and ordered him to leave the area without delay under the gaze of all passengers. The man got detained and later handled over to the local police, that carried out his arrest and is expected to be formally charged. According to a local news station known as Radio Bio-Bío, the man has a criminal record, including previous arrests for theft and threats.
