Russian helicopter does hard landing near Stavropol Airport

Today, at around 4:00 PM (local time), a Kazan Ansat-GMSU, operated by the Rostec National Air Ambulance Service and registered RA-20050, did a hard, emergency landing after takeoff in Stavropol Airport (STW/URMT :ru:) while transporting 4 passengers: two pilots and two medical workers. It was heading to the Ipatovo Helipad (ZD3Q :ru:) for a medical mission flight.

After takeoff, the pilots reported a problem with the propeller: the helicopter did not respond to the propeller pitch, and the pilots were unable to slow down. Then, it made a hard landing at the Stavropol Airport after partially losing control.

For an hour and a half, fuel was being used up in the area of Kugulta, Grachevsky District, to perform an airplane landing on a foamed runway at the Stavropol airport, where an alarm was declared.

As a result, the helicopter touched the runway with the tail rotor blade (which flew off) and landed in the snow with a right turn approximately 49 feet (15 meters) to the right of the runway, eventually turning 180 degrees. The 2021-model aircraft was damaged, however, the crew and medical team were not injured. The Rostec state corporation said that the pilots coped with the difficult situation, which allowed them to avoid casualties (W pilots).

After the hard landing, the Stavropol Airport suspended the acceptance and release of aircraft for three hours due to the need to evacuate the helicopter from the airfield.
