‘It’s on fire!’: A flight from Houston to New York was evacuated due to a fire that was reported during takeoff A United Airlines plane suffered an emergency situation at Intercon Airport

A United Airlines flight bound for New York had to be evacuated on Sunday morning, February 2, after its crew reported an engine problem before takeoff. According to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the incident occurred around 8:35 a.m., when United Airlines Flight 1382, an Airbus A319 with 104 passengers and 5 crew, aborted the takeoff due to an “engine failure.” The Houston Fire Department confirmed that the passengers were evacuated using slides and emergency stairs. The airline reported that everyone was transferred to the terminal and re-booked on another flight scheduled for 12:30 p.m., according to information cited by the media.

Despite the spectacular nature of the incident, no injuries were reported. All passengers were taken by bus back to the terminal, where they received assistance and were re-booked on a new flight to New York.

This accident isn’t really that bad. An engine flameout is something the pilots are trained for, and an a319 can fly with one engine (like all passenger aircraft). The only harm the passengers were in was maybe a 1 hour delay.
