Funny or Interesting Aviation Stories

Hello all!

I thought it would be cool if you shared some of your favorite funny or interesting stories while flying. This topic provides you with a way to share that with the community!

Here’s an example of a story you could share:

So once, one of the couple of times I’ve ever flown on Southwest (I think we were flying from MDW-MCO), something funny had happened after we’d landed. As I am sure you guys know, Southwest has a reputation for being a funny airline.

So after we had landed in Orlando (the landing wasn’t anything notable - just an average landing) something really random happened. The pilot gets on the intercom and says, “Well folks, on behalf of our Southwest crew today, we’d like to thank you for flying with us, and we hope to see you on another Southwest flight soon.” He then goes on to say, “Umm but anyway, my wife asked me to do this for you guys, so here you go.” He then proceeds to play the chorus of the song Happy by Pharrell Williams. It was totally random, but I found it funny.

Can’t wait to hear more stories from you guys!

Okay so not my personal story, but one from my family members…

My grandfather was visiting Puerto Rico for some trip (business, vacation, visiting family, I remember not). Now, he’s on the flight from Orlando to San Juan, and all of the sudden, one of the FA’s comes on the intercom and is like “Is there a doctor on board?” Now, one thing you should know about my grandfather is that he’s been in the medical area for all his life - specifically pulmonology (lungs and stuff). So, naturally, he said “I am a doctor” and proceeded to help a passenger with some medical issue (can’t remember exactly if it was a blood sugar thing or an allergic reaction or what). He was able to help the passenger to feel better and solved their issue. The crew was very impressed and appreciative, and made sure to convey that to my grandfather.

AFTER that flight, eventually his trip was over and it was time for him to come back, so he boarded his Orlando-bound flight to return home. He gets on, takes his seat as usual, and they get out of San Juan. And then the same thing happens again. A passenger needs medical attention. FAs ask if there are any doctors on board. He volunteers. He helps said passenger. But the even crazier coincidence is the fact that it was the same cabin crew both times. After the second time, they recognized him and was like “Oh hey wait a minute you were the guy that helped the passenger on that last flight!!” It was a very awesome experience for my grandfather.

I can’t quite remember if JetBlue ended up doing anything for him or not, but I think that they gave him an upgrade or voucher towards future flights or something like that. He helped not one, but two people in their time of need. Respect :fire: :fire:

My story is, I was on allegiant airlines GRR-SFB. The announcements went off to turn on airplane mode, but the dude next to me turned it off, turned on his hotspot and his daughter started a whole movie on his hotspot. And the kid next to my older sister was also on this guys hotspot playing Minecraft.
