I’ve genuinely wondered this for a while because I can imagine it has something to do with Discord. (Which i’m permanently banned from on my account). Or is it something else entirely?

Nah, it ain’t stressful. Just tell people what to do and what not to do. The application is here on the forum, and it’s not hard. Just answer some questions. Six will get back to you soon after.
Hello! When we need moderators, we will go down this list and continue to add people until we have the needed moderators.
1.) Ask staff on the Discord.
2.) Ask Trust Level 3 and Flight Crew.
3.) Public Applications in Forum Information > Forum Announcements.
From here, there is a form that is made available to members asking them some questions. There is no connection to the Discord. In some cases we will do some work with them, but that is not typically something we do.
We try not to make it stressful - we have a detailed guide and onboarding process to make it simple. As this is a volunteer position, we try not to make it difficult or stressful for members.

You can only apply if you have TL3 or are in the flight crew

TL3 is flight crew
