Yeah, it’s a really nice plane.
Nice, and heres one more question: Whats your favourite airline from Europe?
Ooh! That’s one I haven’t really thought about! The only one I’ve flown on is Air France on a flight to Tanzania, but if I had to choose one, I’d have to go with Turkish airlines. They have a massive route network consisting of over 350 destinations across over 130 countries, giving it the distinction of having highest amount of countries served by a single airline. According to my friend who has flown them, they’re also pretty comfortable, but I can’t personally verify that.
Do you think the Comac C919 will do well internationally?
I think the C919 (and Comac in general) certainly have the potential and resources to break into the international market and break the current duopoly, but seeing the way that the US has been treating China recently, I wouldn’t expect the FAA to give certification anytime soon, and certainly not for the next two years given our current president’s stance on China. (Not political, I’m just stating what I expect based on past performance)
Apparently, Comac is working on EASA certification for the C919, which is certainly a big step in the right direction, but it only applies to Europe and countries that recognize their certifications, so I still personally don’t believe that you will see any Chinese jets flying in the US in the near future.
Something that could be interesting is a Comac widebody, but it will never get built unless Comac is certain they can get their jets intentionally certified, which for reasons stated before, is probably a long ways away.
As y’all can see, I love a good, thorough yap
- Favorite airport?
- Favorite car or ground vehicle?
- If you had to pick one airliner to be the only model that you fly on for the rest of your life, what airliner would you choose? (Given that things such as range, fuel eco, and ticket price are not important)
- My favourite airport that I’ve been to is actually one of my home airports: DCA. It’s the closest of my 3 airports, has super convenient metro access for if I want to kill time and planespot, it’s not too busy, and has great views out over the Potomac River. My favorite non home airport is probably ATL.
- I’m not really a car guy, but if all of the vehicles I’ve driven, side-by-sides are probably the funnest one I’ve used (although excavator is a close second).
- I’ve been incredibly fond of the A220 both times I’ve flown on it. There’s just something about it that gives it a very nice, cozy feel, while still being a decently sized aircraft.
Why did you choose the name “FireLeech”?
Basically, I suck at coming up with usernames. The Fire Leech is a multi shot homing missile launcher from the game Just Cause 3, and it sounded cool, so I made that my steam username, and then it’s just become the default username for me because I’ve never come up with anything better. Makes it easy to track me down for better or for worse.
Here’s a picture of the fire leech:
Nice, and 2 more questions: Whats you favourite airline in North America and whats your airliner from Airbus?
For your first question, other than my main carrier, Delta, probably Southwest airlines. The few times I’ve flown on them were all good experiences, although I can’t comment on the new-ish changes in seating policy E.T.C.
For your second question, my favorite aircraft from the Airbus lineup is the A220, but my favorite Airbus design is probably the A350
