Just like Toronto did after the Delta CRJ crashed in Toronto, I wanted to make a crash thread about the awful crash in Louisville. The MD-11 was taking off and appeared to have its #1 engine on fire. Didn’t get far off the ground before crash. It was headed to Honolulu and three crew members were on board.
Appears to be debris from the engine on the side of the runway. According to scanners in the area multiple people are still trapped in the debris (presumably in the buildings)
The whole flight is on flight radar, and the number one flight rn is a news helicopter in the area
Update to the thread: 3 people (most likely the crew members however I cannot confirm that) have died. 11 others are injured. The number is expected to grow as from what I have heard the fire hasn’t even been put out yet.
Update: It has been confirmed that sometime during the takeoff roll, the #1 engine fell off of the MD-11
This is from Aaron Rheins livestream but this is probably the clearest footage we will get of the crash: https://x.com/FrozoneFlores/status/1985879176914813100?t-t9Qnhfle/Gry9msiAaH55Qq&s-19
Fell OFF? OMG
Holy crap it’s American Airlines Flight 191 all over again.
That is unreal.
United?
It was American…
Right, that’s what I meant.
The death toll has been updated to seven. Tragic.
The spread of fire is crazy.
May all those who died rest in peace
Update: 11 Fatalities, many more are still missing (none are expected to be found alive at this point), and there are at least 19 injured
Check out playback of flight 5X2976 from Louisville to Honolulu on Flightradar24. Flight history for UPS flight 5X2976

I thought the one from the truck shop was the best we were gonna get, but this is earth-shattering. Horrifying.
My apologies, last night I said there were 19 injuries, however that was false. There are 15 with two of them being very serious.
