#### September 8, 2026

**LONDON —** An Air Ontario Airways Boeing 757 has crashed at **London Heathrow Airport** after suffering a previously undocumented mechanical failure that prevented its landing gear from deploying.

The aircraft, operating as Flight 37, was approaching Heathrow when the flight crew discovered that the landing gear could not be extended.

Despite the failure, the crew successfully performed an emergency **gear-up landing** , bringing the Boeing 757 onto the runway without an immediate catastrophic accident.

However, the aircraft continued along the runway after touchdown.

A **localizer antenna positioned beyond the runway** was struck by the aircraft, resulting in a major collision and substantial damage to the Boeing 757.

Airport ground crews immediately responded to the crash site, with emergency personnel rushing toward the aircraft.

Fire and rescue teams have established an emergency perimeter around the wreckage.

The landing-gear malfunction is currently considered particularly unusual.

According to preliminary information, the mechanical problem responsible for the failure had never previously been encountered by engineers.

Investigators will examine why the aircraft was unable to stop before reaching the runway end and why the localizer antenna was located in the aircraft’s path.

Heathrow airport ground crews responded rapidly following the crash.

Emergency services have been deployed to the scene, while airport authorities assess the condition of the aircraft and those aboard.

**The number of passengers, crew members, injuries and fatalities has not yet been officially confirmed.**

Operations at Heathrow are expected to be affected while emergency crews secure the crash site and investigators begin their examination.

The incident is expected to be investigated by British aviation authorities alongside Air Ontario Airways and Boeing representatives.

The successful initial touchdown means the landing-gear failure alone may not have been sufficient to cause a catastrophic accident. Investigators will therefore examine whether the runway-end environment and available stopping distance contributed significantly to the final crash.

Officials have cautioned that the investigation remains in its early stages and that no definitive cause has yet been established.
